STAND-UPPITY
After a brief year-long stint as a devoted open-miker (read my comedy blog for my early-90s Comic Strip experience!) I took some time off and began doing standup in 2004, dazzling Stand Up NY with strong showings at their annual "Funniest Lawyer in New York" shows. Eventually I produced a number of lawyer-comedy, white-collar comedy and new talent shows at places like the Laugh Lounge and Broadway Comedy Club. I've also enjoyed performing at alternative venues like Mo Pitkin's, UCB Theatre, Lucky Cheng's and the Parkside Lounge. Nearly every Thursday, I cohost and produce a sweet booked open mike at the Parkside called "SuperEgo Comedy," a place for newbies and seasoned pros alike to hone their material in a truly supportive and enjoyable environment. Interested performers can sign up here. I love hosting and if you ask me nicely and buy me a drink I'll be happy to host or produce your show. THEATRICS Improv: I've trained, learned and drank (lots) with the fine folks at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, as well as the Magnet Theater and with the guys from the Annoyance when they're in town. I've performed with the indie groups Foreplay and Harsh (which I assistant directed as well). Other stage stuff: I've stage managed a bunch of productions. If you ask me nicely I may help you on yours if you promise to hug me lots. Well, once or twice should do it. ACTORLY I was in a wonderful Spoiler film made by my pals Corrine Ellingson and Rosie Stevens called "How to Love and Be Loved in Return." Please note that I was not cast for my acting ability. Oh, constantly exploited! I was cast for my feminine charms in the fantastic Channel 102 series, "The Man who Loved Lesbians." Check it out! I've done extra work on other fun films, appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and audition for commercials from time to time. College Humor video - with Andrew Secunda, Jon Daly and Brett Gelman - that I'm in for a bit. LAWYERLY Yeah, I haven't played one on TV yet....but I am one. Since I'm not sure what constitutes proper attorney advertising, I'll be brief. But those in need can contact me via email. I represented notorious pranksters Improv Everywhere during their annual "No Pants" mission and related court cases - and emerged (clothed and) victorious! Read all about it here! I am also pro bono counsel for Manhattan Comedy Collective. |
